Soothing light for blissful nights
Research about bad lifestyle habits, their causes and effects.

Design Brief
One of the major bad lifestyle habits includes sleep deprivation which can occur various health consequences in the entire body including a higher risk of heart disease as it leads to increased blood pressure, weakened immunity, memory issues, diabetes, weight gain, etc. Different people have different sleep habits and patterns, which are influenced by factors such as age, lifestyle, and health conditions. The sleep environment can have a significant impact on sleep quality.
I intend to make a product which can help the user overcome their sleep deprivation by making them experience a relaxed and comfortable sleep. A good user experience also plays an essential role to promote better sleep. Products should be easy to use, comfortable, and non-intrusive. The product will benefit people with very busy and hectic schedules throughout the day and require restful sleep at night. These people generally suffer from stress, or their work schedules mess up their biological cycles. It will also be favourable for people suffering from sleeping disorders like Insomnia. The possible techniques to overcome these issues are the automatic dimming of light according to the time without user interaction, aroma and sound therapy, temperature regulation of the room or body, and smart pillows and mattresses which track the quality of sleep.

Ideation
I explored different forms for the lamp which were suitable for a bedside lamp. I wanted them to be very minimal and simple so it gives an ambience of comfort and relaxation.
I explored some radical and ergonomic designs with the decided forms by adding some features and attachments which people use before their bedtime.
ITERATIONS OF THE FINAL FORMS

Iteration 3:

A user journey map of a user with a bedside lamp to showcase her needs, requirements and emotions while buying/using the product.
Exploded view of the final product along with its main features.
3D Renders
I wanted the features of the lamp to depict a retro look so I used earth tones along with a metallic golden shade for the curves.
Without the essential oil bottle

Low-Fidelity Prototyping
This prototype is mainly showcasing the form of the lamp. It was done using thermocol, wall putty, OHP sheet, sunboard and acrylic paints.
I have also attached a bulb and an essential oil bottle to show their placements.
A zine for the user which will be provided with the product to refer to so they can choose the best light colour and aroma according to their requirement.
